How’s the start to your New Year been? I’ve seen some people have a great start, lots of energy, new ideas. I’ve seen more people struggle with energy, poor focus and overwhelm. If you are in this second group, don’t give up. Don’t beat yourself up. Check your self-care is activated, sleep, rest, eat well, muster all the patience you can. Then as you feel stronger, give yourself some focussed activity. Not necessarily giant steps or world changing projects but small, focussed, and achievable steps, something to take you in the right direction, towards what you seek. Build momentum and the rest will follow... If you have any questions on how to progress, do let me know.If you’re in the first group full of energy and raring to go then brilliant! Tell me what you’re up to and let’s set you some stretch goals! ... See MoreSee Less

I'm often not the fastest to get into gear with New Year but today I can begin afresh - it's a good day to start new habits and a clean desk paves the way. The state without often reflects the state within - what's in your mind creates what is in your world and vice versa. So clear your desk. Create some visible space, a sanctuary of calm and order to encourage calm and order within. You deserve at least that much! ... See MoreSee Less

There are many ways to communicate. Let's celebrate our diversity and the great skills we can develop. Braille: the raised dot system now known as "braille" was pioneered by a young Frenchman called Louis Braille.Louis lost his sight through a childhood accident. Aged 10, he was sent to the Royal Institution for Blind Youth and in 1821 Louis was first introduced to the idea of using a coded system of raised dots.Charles Barbier, a captain in Napoleon's army, visited the school to demonstrate his "night writing". This was a tactile system designed for soldiers to send and receive messages at night without speaking. It used raised dots and dashes rather than actual letters.Louis quickly realised how useful Barbier's system could be, but thought it was too complicated. Over the next few years he worked hard to develop his own version of the code, using just six dots (instead of Barbier's 12) to represent the standard alphabet.By 1824, aged just 15 years old, Louis had found 63 ways to use a six-dot cell in an area no larger than a fingertip. He had also perfected his "planchette" or writing slate, which gave precise placing for the pattern of raised dots when writing braille. He went on to develop signs for mathematics and even music. ...
